For the Love of Bamboo, Baby!

I have to admit that there are many products that I’d buy just because it’s made from bamboo – even if I don’t need it.

Some of my favorite items in my own home are made from bamboo – like my collection of bamboo cutting boards.

Yes okay, I have a thing for bamboo products and yes a thing for Canadian companies! Over the past few weeks as I’ve been searching out items for my baby registry and my dream organic baby wish list I’ve come across some really great items.

Here are just a few of the items that I can’t wait to caress cuddle try out in our own home or use again once the baby is born:

Bamboo Cloth Diapers



• The Charcoal Bamboo Cloth Diapers by lil helper are not only amazing but just reading through lil helper’s blog and website you get a sense of the humor these guys have – you’d have to have one dealing with poo all day long wouldn’t you! In addition to having naturally deodorizing, anti-microbial and hypoallergenic properties they also do good each time you diaper your baby. For every three diapers purchased lil helper donates a diaper to a family in need now that’s some baby doin’ good!
• One of my favorite bamboo cloth diapers is from another Canadian company called Mother-Ease. The Mother-Ease Bamboo One Size Fitted diaper is one of my favorite, simple workhorse diapers. It’s design allows for use from about 10 to 35+ lbs. Mother-Ease Sandy’s Bamboo Fitted diapers are another one of my favorites and I still use the Toddle Ease for our almost four year-old at night. It’s soft, thirsty and washes easy!

Bamboo Baby Clothing



• There is a grand selection of Bamboo Baby Clothing by Kicky Pants at Cotton Babies. Knowing how soft my Mother-Ease Bamboo Diapers are after years of washing multiple times a week, I can’t imagine what it would be like to snuggle up with my new little one wearing a bamboo layette. Soft, silky and good for the planet too!
• Leg warmers for kids are one of the hottest fashion trends, now with ToodleBugz Bamboo Baby Leg Warmers from Mommy’s Touch your kids can be fashionable and eco-friendly. They are great for using on infants instead of pants for easy diaper changes and easy to stuff in your diaper bag for when the summer nights turn chilly. I’ve also seen them used on arms in combination with short sleeved shirts. So many uses and the same pair can fit a baby or a teenager – stretching their value even more!

Bamboo Baby Toys



• What’s soft, cuddly, made from eco-friendly products? Dandelion’s Plush Bamboo stuffed baby animal is right! Dandelion has an entire collection of organic animals and other soft toys for kids in addition to their bamboo items!
• Now that baby is older how about some Bamboo Organeco Building Blocks? I absolutely love giving our children toys that don’t require batteries but need a healthy dose of imagination. Not sure about your boys but our sure do make a mess of those nasty plastic toddler toilet seats. The design of this you can tell there would be no urine or poo trapped in the seams, unlike plastic this bamboo seat isn’t going to have seams!
