Product Name: Happy Little Cake (Greeting Cakes)
Rating: 8
Where to buy: Happy Little Cake

Description: A greeting card in the form of a microwavable cake/brownie

Review:

This was a fun product to review- especially for my two older boys who actually helped me make the cake. Each cake comes with everything you need except for the microwave.

While I don’t even want to know the actual ingredients- the cake itself was yummy.
First you open the package up and take out all the ingredients, stirring spoon, etc and rinse the bowl.

Next you add water and stir- this was probably my kids favorite part next to eating it.

After stirring you place in the microwave and watch it puff up. Upon taking it out of the microwave- Watch- it’s hot!

Mix the frosting & add your sprinkles

yes K got into my paint- hence his nose!

Enjoy!

Why not a 10?
Since I’m to be living a more healthy life- this really doesn’t fit into that area. BUT, it was a chocolate cake we tried and OH SO GOOD! I wish they had more options that were slightly more healthy. All in all, if I were to get one of these for Mother’s Day, my birthday, or just because. I would not be complaining- especially if it was the brownie mix.

HFCS- Okay in moderation?

September 25, 2008 · Filed Under Food of Life, Green Giggles, Nature · 4 Comments

Oh come on- give me a break. Not only have I seen the commercials but I’ve already been reading many blogs whom their writers are just baffled by the comments from the recently released Corn Refiners Association commercials.

It’s okay in moderation they say- but how about the fact that it’s in EVERYTHING from bread- to “100% juice” and everything in between. I’m surprised our toilet paper doesn’t have it! So how can you have HFCS in moderation when it’s in so many things?

First of all- read your labels. Just because a product seems healthy doesn’t mean that it is. By doing so I have finally found a brand of local bread that does not use HFCS or any corn syrup for that matter. Second- eat raw natural foods that you can grow yourself or pick up from local farmers. While I love a good healthy cut of steak from a organic farmer- I’m still trying to eat more veggies- especially raw.

So tell me what do you think of all this HFCS hype?

Next Time: Fume Free

In an attempt to be Martha Stewart I decided to completely redo our entire downstairs of our house. Starting with the largest room, our ‘back room’, this room serves as my home office and TV viewing area- not to mention homework station for the kiddos.

So it needed primed and painted- oh the muscle aches! Even though I’m sore in areas I never knew muscles existed, it’s the remaining headache that is bothering me the most. I know what it’s from- the smell! It’s awful.

I have totally made myself a mental note: next time I venture to the home improvement store. I am SO spending the extra dough and getting the fume free paints.

My questions to you is have you used these new eco-friendly paints? How do they hold up to a toddler coloring on them? How about toy trucks going ‘off road’?

Now if only I could get someone to come and do all the trimming then I’d be set for the next time which has come sooner than expected. However, I’m using up paint we already have in the house. Just mix a little paint left over from the living room, kitchen cupboard, and trim and you’ve got a nice new color.

Stay tuned for before and after information!
