Budget-Friendly DIY Christmas Decorations

Posted by in Finding Creativity

Just three days remaining then Christmas will finally be here! I can say I am almost ready but even that might be stretching the truth. We moved into a new house this year and I will be hosting Christmas day.

I have been looking for way to make the day unique and things to keep the kids busy. I came across some great do-it-yourself (DIY) ideas to spruce up my Christmas event – and it’s crafts I can do with my son.

Fabric Ball Ornament

I love this fabric ornament idea and from the tutorial you can see that it’s more of an adult project. To make it more personal you could add each persons name on it and get them out each year for them to hang on the tree. You could also put the date and make a new one each year.

Ribbon Trees

These fun ribbon trees are not only a great way to use up your ribbon scraps but would make the cutest centerpieces for any dinner table. All you need is some ribbon, 1 cone, pins, and a hot glue gun. These could be made at any time of year and would also make a fantastic gift for someone. Many boxed craft stores have huge discounts on ribbon this time of year so stock up while you can!

Paper Bag Reindeer

Check out the featured photo above to the left – aren’t these paper bag reindeer super cute! All you need is a kiddo, some paper lunch bags, crafting scraps and you are good to go. Of course each can be personalized with everyone’s name or date. A great way to keep those kids entertained while off of school and before Santa arrives!

Christmas Cards

Having a big family dinner? What a better way to solve the who-sits-where then to make homemade Christmas cards to use as place settings and unique parting gifts. Kaboose has several different cards you can make, enough to have a different one for each family member. Many of their DIY cards are easy enough for kids or you can get your craft on for the fancier ones.

All of these DIY crafts are not only easy, quick, and fun they are also holiday budget friendly to keep you on track. Make memories this holiday season as they last a lifetime!
