I was sharing my weight loss journey with a woman from my hometown the other day. It reminded me just how long it took me to get things going. To get it right.

As many of you know I shared my weight loss story and challenge with the viewers of the jennifer show. That was in June of 2009. Yes, you did the math right – almost 9 months ago. You’d think after officially declaring to thousands of viewers and to my entire blog audience that I’d be ‘Ms. Skinny Minny’ right now.

It takes time…

I’m realizing that now and it took me a long time to mentally get this point – It took me almost 10 years to put on all this weight and it’s going to take me a long time to get it off. A long time of hard work and many failures. I think that is the hardest to accept. No matter what my weight is going to go up and down.

So what did I finally get? It was just a month or so ago that I finally realized that I have to push myself. My extra weight isn’t just going to fall off from a magic pill, one day of exercise, or a week of healthy eating. I have to push myself to make myself continue the changes beyond one day. I’m finding it easier these days to put the computer aside. Get off the couch and be active. It’s still a struggle many days but the point is – I do it. I push myself!

So here is my official weigh in:

Feb 28, 2010

271.8 lbs

March 7, 2010

266.4 lbs

Down: 5.4 lbs

If you are struggling with pushing yourself try getting a motivational buddy to call you, tweet you, Facebook, come and physically pull you off the couch, or whatever you need to do at least 30 minutes of something each day. That something can be taking a walk, having a power dance session with your kids, exercise DVD’s, or dare I mention it…getting your groove on with your spouse!

Don’t forget to drink half your body weight in H2O every day! This will really help flush your system and reduce the amount of food you are eating. Example: I now weigh 266 lbs so I need to be drinking 133 oz of water a day. It seems like a lot but you’d be surprised what a water bottle and simply keeping track of your ounces will do for you!

Why Use WordPress [...]

So you’re interested in using WordPress as your business site – smart move!

But before you dive right in to planning and design you’re decided to do a little research. WordPress is most commonly known as a blogging platform but it’s grown in popularity as a website platform for both large and small businesses.

Why Use WordPress For Business Websites?

Easy to Install

With a good hosting program you can simply install WordPress with a few clicks.

Easy to Update

One of the features of WordPress is the easy to use visual editor. It’s called a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. You could compare this type of editor to using Microsoft Word to edit your website as it’s very easy to use and many people catch on to use it quickly.

Plenty of Add-Ons

With WordPress you can get add-ons that increase the functions and change the look of your website. Compared to having customized features added to a site designed specifically for you the cost will be highly reduced.

Customized Look

There are many ways to customize a WordPress website so that it matches your business and branding. You can add your own logo or header, change the background, add your own colors, add links and more.

Built in Blog

What many people who are not familiar with WordPress are unaware of is that you can use the program to create both a website and a blog all in the same spot. This is so much more convenient than having them separate.

Search Engine Friendly

Another great feature of the program is helps you optimize your pages and posts.

Building Community

If you choose to also have a blog on your website you can work on building a community around your website. Writing blog posts that build relationships with your target market is an effective way to build trust and earn more sales in the long run.

Easy To Change

As businesses grow and change so do their website needs. It’s silly to assume that the first website or design you start with will be your last. Most businesses go through a large number of changes. WordPress makes it easy to change your look with themes. A theme is added over top of the content and so when replace a current theme it doesn’t affect your existing posts and pages.

I hope these points will help you decide if using a WordPress blog as a business website is the right choice for you.

Now if you’re interested in learning more about how to make a website using WordPress then I’d like to point you to a free mini-course and weekly email tips that will give you the step by step information you need to get going quickly.

Angela loves the freedom her internet business gives her including the time to volunteer in seven year old son’s class and attend field trips whenever she wants.

At her blog she shares information on topics like how to set up a website, how to blog, how to profit from affiliate marketing, how to built an email list, and more. Angela posts daily to her marketing blog and also offers a podcast, free report called “Market From the HEART”, weekly email tips list on internet business topics and much more.

Tip from Dinker & Giggles: Remember there is a difference between using Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org. We recommend Wordpress.ORG and self-hosting your site. Don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter for more tips.

When was the last time you assumed something about someone? Be honest with yourself – was it last week, yesterday, or perhaps in the last five minutes. It’s human nature that we do. Our thoughts running 10,000 times faster than our common sense.

This evening as I sat in a quiet corner of my favorite thinking place I watched a young mother with her little boy. I contemplated what she’d do if I asked to have an interview with her. I can only image what she thought of me as I sat there smiling at them. Perhaps she thought I was like the rest of society and just staring. However, I was looking for another reason. I was trying to decide if she’d be offended by me asking to talk to her.

She wasn’t in the least and I had a great conversation with Jamie! We talked briefly about how she felt when finding out that their little baby still in utero wasn’t perfect in the eyes of the world. The option of abortion was even brought up. Ethan is the cutest little boy and the short time I spent with him I wanted to just snuggle right up to him. What a shame for the doctors to suggest that he shouldn’t be born.

Stares. Whispers. Rude Facial Expressions. Gestures.

They hurt. They hurt more than you can imagine. It’s up to us as parents to teach our children…and ourselves to smile and be kind. It’s okay to ask questions. We are humans after all! It’s nature that we are curious and wanting to know more – but do it without a judgmental 2nd and 3rd looks. Be curious with an open mind and heart!

Caught with the opportunity to have a teaching moment with your child?

Here are some key points to remember:

God created each one of us special and unique.

Smile. Ask the little boy or girl to play!

Respond. Don’t ignore your child if they have questions. It’s how they learn!

For the older children:

A disability or physical deformity doesn’t make someone less of a human then you are.

Don’t assume anything. It’s better to ask questions then to stare.

Be the ‘bigger’ person. Tell your friends that it’s not nice to say mean things – by speaking up you are now a hero.

Shortly before they left she admitted that she even judged me. She saw me with my computer and was afraid that by sitting at a table near me they’d be bothering my work. When I started to approach her before I was able to get my question out her thoughts were running through her head “Oh no, this woman is going to ask us to move. We are too loud.”

Little did she know that I’d be asking her to talk about judgments and assumptions!

Crashing. Explosions. Roaring. Beeping.

These are just a few of the sounds in my daily life. My life filled with dinosaurs getting run over by Tonka trucks. Lions running away from boogies – not boogie monsters but actual boogies! Yep, you guessed it I have boys. Three boys actually.

The closest I have to a daughter is our 7 lbs Shih Tzu. Whom I feel very sorry for as she lays next to me in her little pink sweatshirt dress. I’ll hold while you laugh – or perhaps are relieved that you aren’t the only one.

When the ladies over at Girly Gazette asked “What makes you feel fabulous?” it really got me thinking. When was the last time I felt absolutely down right fab u lous? I really had to think. Honestly, I don’t do anything that makes me feel fabulous. I have been feeling wonderful lately with all my progress in working out. But… fabulous?

Then I remembered a few months back. My husband had our older two boys and I had the baby. He was sleeping and I was able to take a real shower. You know the ones where you get to shave both your arm pits and your legs! I took my time and even used some of my bath scrubbing crystals. The same crystals that haven’t seen the light of our bathroom since I got them six months ago.

I even had time to paint my toenails. It was this that really got me thinking fabulous. For the next few days I had perfectly painted piggies. No matter how many trucks ran off the road and crashed into the sea of dinosaurs, I was still sporty those piggies. I was refueled and fabulous. I need to do that more often. Those small things that bring a little pink into my life!

So, what makes you feel fabulous?
