First Day of {Home} School

Posted by on Aug 20, 2012 in Homeschool

Once upon a time there were three little boys so excited for their first day of school that they got up early, had breakfast, got dressed, and did their morning chores all before 8 o’clock in the morning!

Each year I have tried to take those interesting (but mostly blackmail worthy) “First Day of School” photos but mostly failed. So this year I said gone is the posing; let’s just take photos when a moment arises.

Here are our moments from this morning…

Our First Day of Homeschool

First Day of Homeschool at Dinker & Giggles

We started our day with a prayer and did our first unit in our New Testament Bible study. Then we talked about the name we picked for our school – Kinzua Academy. Hunter loves that our mascot is the Snowy Owl – of course.

Here are some photos of the boys working on a photo to represent our school. The only directions were it needed to include:

    • Water
    • Owl
    • The words ‘Kinzua Academy’

After they were all done the boys took turns and explained about their creation. Each full of their own artistic representation of the required elements. I just loved listening to them explain their art work!

Show and Tell

See that chart behind Hunter’s head? That is part of the We Choose Virtues Faith-Based Character Building that we are working on. So far we have had lots of “I am a Helper”. Our caterpillars are turning into beautiful helping butterflies today!

Now it’s lunch time followed by what I’m assuming is going to be some messy but super-duper fun cupcake baking and decorating time!
