And… They’re Off!
This week has been a whirlwind of “adventure” to say the least! My little ones all went back to school this week. Some that aren’t so little anymore!
Honestly, going back to school for them is as much of a roller coaster of emotions for me as it is for them.
Homeschool or Public School?
This is a question that I struggled with all summer long. We moved to a new area of North Carolina back in May of this year. So many questions and thoughts went through my mind as this school year approached.
“What is the education that they are going to receive going to be like?”
As it turns out the schools that my kids are slotted to attend are some of the best in the area. They are rated 8 out of 10 on GreatSchools.org. I think to most parents our child(ren)s education is one of the most important factors that we look at as we begin each school year.
“Are my kids going to be safe?”
That’s a tough one. Honestly, there is no one here on earth that can guarantee our children’s safety. We have to trust and pray everyday that the Lord will guide them and keep them in his hands. Oh, how I would LOVE to just wrap my children up and keep them with me all the time, but I have to trust and believe that God will do what he has promised.
“for He guards the course of the just and protects His faithful ones.” Proverbs 2:8
How do YOU Decide to Homeschool or Send Your Kids to Public School?
I believe as parents we all want what’s best for our child(ren). As a Christian parent I not only want an education that teaches my kids all of the information they need to pass exams and to go on to college, I want my kids to learn basic principles in life.
- How to have respect for others
- Learn good manners
- Love God and serve others
I believe that the key to accomplishing all of these things is to be involved in your child(ren)s lives. Whether you decide to homeschool or to send your child(ren) to public school, you need to be INVOLVED, ask QUESTIONS! Communication and modeling the behaviors that we want our children to possess is a great way to teach our children. This can be done no matter where you decide that your child(ren) are going to receive their education.
“Education provides the fullest opportunities for fulfilling ourselves. It is the access to all that a person has yet to learn, and that is precisely why the future belongs to the educated.”

In the end, it really is a personal decision. It has to be what’s right for your family. For now, all of the my children are BACK TO SCHOOL!
