I was so glad when I got the chance through Buzz Cooperative to review the Joey Totes. I’ve actually have bought a number of cloth reusable bags. You know the ones that hang by the check out and are $.99 – $1.49. Sure it’s all great but you know what- it’s hard to remember them!

The typical cloth reusable bags don’t fit in my purse or diaper bag. Managing three kids while shopping- I don’t have extra hands to carry the bags either. Joey Totes solves this problem.

I’m loving the Joey Totes as they are great sizes – I got one large tote and two smaller ones. The large tote I actually filled up with spare clothes, diapers, wipes, toys, snacks, etc. to send with my husband when he took all three boys to his niece’s house for the day. The bags squish down into their own carry pouch and can honestly fit into my clutch! So it’s really easy to stick these bags in random places so you’ll always have one.

Another wonderful feature of these is that they are simple. Not only is the overall design of the windbreaker type material simple but there is only one simple logo on the bag. No chain store logo, no huge design…so you can use these in any store and not feel weird or disloyal. I also used these when I went to the mall. Since they have a simple design I was able to have the clerk bag my items into the Joey Totes instead of using their paper bag. I didn’t have that “oh this is just for groceries cause it has a grocery store logo on it” feeling either!

One thing that I don’t like about the Joey Totes actually has nothing to do with the product itself but the pictures used on their website. I really do not agree with them showing a baby laying on plastic bags or a young toddler actually in a bag as someone is holding it.

To me that’s just poor marketing. I totally understand them promoting it as cute and strong- but there could have been another way of doing this.

All in all- I really love these bags and have been honestly able to remember the bags much better then the standard cloth bags.

Product Name: Joey Totes

Where to Buy: Joey Store

Product Contents: Joey Set – 1 Big Joey 2 Small Joey

Manufacturers Description:

The more we thought through the problem, the more things we realized what we needed our bags to do:

    • We needed more than one or two bags to carry our stuff, otherwise we went home with more plastic bags
    • We needed a large bag that we could carry on our shoulder and one or two small bags that we could hand carry
    • We needed the set of bags to easily stow into one small unit
    • I wanted the bags to be washable
    • I wanted bags that I wouldn’t feel awkward using in the mall as well as in the grocery
    • And we definitely wanted a bag that would last!

  30. Kathy S says:

Love the fact that the young couple who own this business actually know what they are talking about. The husband worked in forestry, and she is an environmental planner. Also the fact that the product does not destroy trees or any natural product, but uses rip-stop nylon (which is practically indestructible)pretty much guarantees that they will last forever! I think that I know what I’ll be buying for friends and family….Joey Totes!

  38. Aisling says:

I think it’ really sad that less than 4% of all plastic bags are recycled. That’s a good indicator that stores need to stop handing out plastic bags.

  39. Ann says:

I really like how they’ve designed the totes to tuck inside their own pouches which are hidden inside. It’s so much more convenient than stuffing it into another carrier. Plus each tote is designed to carry more than one tote! Extra convenience!

I learned how durable the bags are. This would be really nice since my Home Depot and Food Lion reusable bags didn’t last long. What good are reusable bags if you have to throw them out after a few uses??

  45. Veronica Garrett says:

I learned that Joey Totes are durable. They are maade from ripstop Nylon, commonly used in outdoor apparel. Each bag is reinforced with double-folded handles that are tough enough to carry 40 lbs and will last for years.

  46. Sherry says:

I like that they are washable. I have some reusable shopping bags from local grocers, but they are plastic stitched together with a strap handle. So I never put anything fresh or cold in them.
