Just Do It Already!

That’s what my brain is telling my body about this whole get healthy mission I’ve been on for over a year now! I’ve shared my story with jennifer viewers. I’ve applied twice to be a Mamavation mom – and lost twice.

Perhaps it’s a way of God telling me I wasn’t ready or I was ready for the wrong reasons. Perhaps it’s more than just loosing a few pounds here and there. It’s about changing my entire life – my entire being!

So here it goes…

Get Healthy, Get LIVING Day One

Today is another one of those lazy stay in your pj’s all day days. I’ve given the boys breakfast and this time I actually had a little something myself.

  • Breakfast:

Bowl of mixed cereal (organic oats, dried berries, and other stuff) with 2% milk and fresh slices of banana

  • Lunch:

Two slices of bakery italian bread topped with low fat mayonnaise, smoked deli turkey, american cheese, iceberg lettuce, and my favorite – bread & butter pickles.

  • Moving Thy Body:

Cleaning – yep, I’m counting that as exercise. When you have three boys under the age of 6 cleaning is always an exercise! I’d love to see Jillian hang with my crew for just 24 hours – could put her ‘Last Chance Workout’ to the test!

  • Snack:

We made a try at a smoothie. I shared it with the kids so who knows how much I actually had. We dumped half a avocado, handful of ice, 2 of the little flavored cups of yogurt, some mandarin oranges with a little of the syrup, and I honestly can’t remember what else we grabbed and dumped in it. It was good!

  • Dinner:

So I totally didn’t do anything healthy or worthy of notes. But I promised that if I ate an entire box of snack cakes I’d admit it. So I had fast food for dinner. So did the kids. All of us ate processed food that can sit out for months on end and not mold. I wonder how much is still inside of me processing!

Yep. That’s why I am refusing to step on a scale until February. I think I’ll weigh myself every two weeks. Perhaps for today I’ll do a weight with pic just so I have some public record so when I do drop 125 lbs in 6 months (yea, so unrealistic!) I’ll have some proof :)

Sometimes I think the Biggest Loser contestants have it easy. Professional coaches at their call and in person – pushing them and motivating them. They have professional chefs making them healthy meals. They don’t have to worry about kids and other stress – just focus on themselves. I think the at home prize should be triple what it is as it’s SOOO much harder doing it at home then at a ranch dedicated to making you healthy!

I think you’re right about it needing to be a healthy lifestyle over all. Then everything else falls into place. But, baby steps are the best way to get to that lifestyle. *Not* eating a box of snack cakes is a good way to start, right? I’m impressed with your smoothie. I would never have thought to add an avocado. I’ll have to give that a try sometime. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for reading and your support!! I really love avocados and I had half of a very ripe one left and it needed to be used. I borrowed my sister’s smoothie recipe book as well as my mom’s machine (ours was having issues with the ice chopping) and I’ll for sure post the good ones as we come across them :)

Well, good to know that even the Italians can see where I am coming from! I’d be HUGE in Italy – all the amazing food! It’s really hard to be so many things to so many people – especially when you are a mom. It’s often mom that suffers and in the end the whole family. Join me in your own get healthy, get living mission and we can fight the battle of the junk food together :)
