Kid Friendly New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve is a great time for us adults to kick back, reflect, and bid the year farewell. Shouldn’t our kids get to do the same thing? So I was trying to find things I can do with my son on New Year’s Eve that will help him ring in the new year (if he is still awake) in style. So I found a few ideas online that we might just do.
Make Your Own Ball
Who needs time square when you can make your own ball drop. With some pins, sequins, and a foam ball, you can have your own time square event in your living room.
Check Your Local Paper
Check your local paper for kid friendly events. I know there are several in my town that are just for kiddos. It’s the best of both worlds, adults can social with other parents and the kids can play in bounce houses.
Make a Time Capsule
Grab a leftover Christmas box and put something that you loved from the year inside. You could also make something that reminds you of your year. Hide the box someplace you will remember and at the end of next year open it and remember years past. Then keep placing new things in the box. Remember to date your items with a tag so you know what year it was from.
Make Your Resolutions
We all have them and we all make them. So how about we have our kids make a resolution magnet. If they are old enough to understand that is. Mine is four so he won’t remember. Maybe it’s taking on a new chore around the house or helping with brother or sister. Maybe it will be to listen to their parents more (ha I wish it was that easy). There is always something, big or small, we can all improve on.
Whatever you are doing this New Year’s Eve take some time to reflect on the year, hug your kids, and make the new year count!
