HE Laundry Detergent – Good For You & Your Clothes

Here is something I did not know and I’m totally on the same thinking path as Stephanie from Adventures in Babywearing. I am one that thought that the more suds and bubbles there are then the cleaner the clothes are getting.

I know that when washing my cloth diapersthat if there are suds in the wash you keep on rinsing. So why didn’t it dawn on me that perhaps the suds are bad? Since using cloth diapers and washing them on my own I have actually started ‘watering down’ my laundry detergent. Many people use to much and I’ve never noticed an issue with our clothing by taking half of what’s in the bottle and adding water to it.

So what about all you that have HE Washers and front loading washers? I don’t have this – I still have the old top loading washer that uses way to much water and energy!

Very interesting. I had no idea there was anything like this. I am sure I have seen HE detergent, but I never noticed it really. I am going to switch right away, but we have a very effecient washer. I bet it works better with HE detergent, and I never knew.

Pretty interesting! Now I am just waiting for my nice, shiny new washer and dryer…lol. I still have the very wasteful top loader and it stinks because I can’t even get stuff at the bottom-I’m too short! So I definitely need to get a front loader…lol

Wish I had the front loading washer too. My husband thinks the more detergent you put in the cleaner clothes gets also. It just wastes more water. Sometimes I have to rinse the clothes twice to get rid of the soapy residue. What a waster of water!!!

I have noticed a LOT more brands are selling HE detergent than they were a few years ago when we first got our HE washer. I used to think suds were important for getting the cloths clean, but my cloths & especially towels seem to be lasting much longer since we switched to the HE washer & HE detergent.
