Many Days Gone A New Promise Made

If you haven’t noticed I’ve totally slacked on my daily get healthy journal. Life happens right. No excuses – just didn’t do it. Not that I don’t care. I do. It’s a life or death situation. For me life just got in the way of making changes.

Tonight I was talking with my insanely talented friend about making changes. My kids have been sick for a while and I really think that a better diet could really help things. Talking about eczema and drinking water. She asked me what three things can I change and just stick to those three things.

So here they are:

  • Drink at least 60 oz of cool, refreshing H20 daily – I love my water. I’m one of the rare people in my household that actually enjoys drinking plain water. My friend brought to my attention that many people just sip thinking that they are drinking tons all day long when in fact it’s really nothing because it’s just a few sips here and there. So I’m going to make sure I gulp a few glasses and sip in between.
  • Add 1 more serving a day of fresh fruits and vegetables – This is probably going to be easy yet difficult. If I make smoothies on a daily basis then it will be super easy to pump myself and the family full of essential vitamins and minerals that we need to get our immune systems grooving! Difficult as in I’m not one to be open to new non-tasty vegetables and our family has been in a rut of mashed potatoes and green beans for a while.
  • Doing at least 1 mile of Walk At Home daily – This is by far my biggest challenge. I go a week of being good and doing some type of fitness activity then the next I’m the biggest couch potato ever. One mile though – it’s just one mile. It’s fun, easy and I know it works as my friend has lost over 100 lbs doing the Walk At Home DVD’s.

So there you have it. Three small and simple steps to a more motivated and healthier family. What are your three steps? What are things you have done to keep the fire burning?

Thanks so much for commenting. Sometimes when I look at the clock and realize it’s bedtime I feel like a failure. Yet I know that it can be done. I know it. I’ve seen it! Tonight I’m going to bed calm that I have a plan for tomorrow and tomorrow is another day!

  2. You have one very smart friend – she’s totally right, break it down to small easy to accomplish tasks. Soon enough those will be habit, and you can add 3 more easy to accomplish goals. Way to go Alaina!

      Janice,

Thank you! These words coming from a Cheerleader and Mamavation supporter means a lot. Tomorrow is it. Tomorrow is the day that I can make just 3 little changes a reality.

Slow and steady always win the race. Making small changes will ensure that you follow through since you won’t be so overwhelmed! I am finally learning to set reasonable goals. Good for you for not giving in but adjusting!!

I LOVE Walk at Home and I have finally gone back to them. I have tried so many other dvd workouts but none are as good for me as Walk at Home!

You got this girl!! WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER!! Sisters in Sweat!

    much love,

I totally was getting ahead of myself always worrying about the end picture and never the choices of paint to make the picture a reality. Even though I’m sick I’m sill working on drinking lots of water and juice. This afternoon after I get some energy I’m going to do the Family Walk with the boys.

You know I’m all about small simple steps you can take. That is the way to make things NOT overwhelming and totally doable. I applaud you for taking a step back and assessing things and then setting yourself up for success. XXOO

You know how I can totally overwhelm myself sometimes. I get way ahead of myself at times and wrapping my brain around drinking water and doing 1 mile a day is so much easier then thinking about loosing X amount of weight in X amount of time.
