Today I just feel like grabbing some food and locking myself in the bathroom and not leaving all day. Just taking time for me- a Mommy Timeout! So many times us mothers – or even fathers- don’t stop to take time for ourselves. To relax, to unwind, to just be me.
Who is me, anyway? Sometimes I don’t who me is anymore. I’ve forgotten how to have fun without making sure my bag is packed with anti-bacterial foam, bandaids, diapers, wipes, snacks, and favorite toys. When I do go out without the kids the topic of the afternoon is kids- what crazy things they did that morning, what kitchen cupboard they got into and destroyed, or how you feel bad cause that day you had a moment that you truly hated your kids. Of course, who goes out in the evenings anyway- after a day with my kids I’m too tired to even think about getting dressed and hitting the streets!
It’s time, seriously- to take the journey and head back to JOY and find yourself again. It’s so important that we don’t let the motherhood hat take over. Believe me I have done that for the last five years- worn the mother hat and now it’s all worn out. So instead of tossing the hat out- repair it, revive it, rejuvenate it!
I was cruising some of my Mom Mastermind member sites and came across this awesome book- Journey to Joy by Aurelia Williams. She asks the questions
- Are you tired of being superwoman and caring for everyone but yourself?
- Are you ready to find time in your busy day to pamper yourself?
- Would you like a friend to guide you along your path of self-discovery, providing support and tips along the way?
Yes, yes, and yes. With my whole Lifetime Challenge I’m discovering that I NEED to take time for myself. Not only has it gone to my hips, arms, butt, and of course my belly- but my self-esteem too!
Many times I feel like I am nothing without my kids. I’m only a mother and nothing else. While there is nothing wrong with me being a mom, I still want more in life. I want to have the same feeling that my kids do when they realize they are now tall enough to reach the faucet without a stool. Total accomplishment and satisfaction!

#1 Nice to meet you!
