Mother-ease® Cloth Diapers: Care & Use Video

Posted by in Bringing Up Boys

I am a long time fan and lover of the entire Mother-ease® Green Diapering system. My ultimate favorite bamboo cloth diapers includes the Mother-ease® Bamboo One Size™ Diaper and combined with either a Mother-ease® Air Flow™ Snap Cover or a super cute wool diaper cover!

No matter what new and fabulous diaper that hits the shelves, I always turn back to my reliable Mother-ease® diapers. They are easy to store. Easy to clean. Stay soft and absorbent through the years. I get many questions on how many diapers someone should get and what kinds – so based on the Mother-ease® bamboo cloth diapering products here is what we personally did…

Newborn – @ Three Months

  • 12 Mother-ease® Sandy’s™ Bamboo XS
  • 1-2 Dozen (Mother-ease® Does Not Carry) Prefold Diapers
  • 1-3 Snappi® Diaper Fasteners
  • 3 Mother-ease® Air Flow™ Snap Covers XS
  • 1-2 Wool Longies, Shorties or Soakers
  • 2 Large Wet Bags, 1 Small Travel Wet Bag

Three Month+

  • 1-2 Dozen Mother-ease® One Size™ Bamboo Fitted
  • 2-4 Mother-ease® Sandy’s™ (great for overnight)
  • 3 Mother-ease® Air Flow™ Snap Covers (Med – Xlg Size Available)
  • Prefold Diapers (for extra absorbency)
  • 2-4 Wool longies, shorties or soakers
  • 2 Large Wet Bags, 1 Small Travel Wet Bag

We were lucky and our son was able to fit into the newborn/XS Sandy’s diapers for a long time – I honestly think he was still wearing them at 6 months. So we got lots of use out of them and they still look new and barely used! Our one-size bamboo fitted diapers were able to fit our 2yr old at the same time that they were fitting our baby – so I didn’t have to have different diapers for each child. We were able to reduce, reuse and recycle!

Check out this video for more information on how you care and use your Mother-ease® diapering system. Keep in mind these are only recommendations and you may find different ways that fit your lifestyle better and we’d love to hear them!

Note: We do not recommend using any kind of fabric softener (even just a small amount) when washing cloth diapers or covers. Instead we recommend replacing your fabric softener with household vinegar – which will help to brighten, soften and sanitize!

  1. By the way, fabric softener (not vinegar) shouldn't be used on towels, either, for the same reason it shouldn't be used with diapers–it makes the fabric less absorbent! Who knew, right?

    • You are totally right! We do not promote or recommend any “baby” detergent either as they have built-in softeners as well. Personally in our home use use a equal mixture of Baking Soda, Borax, and Washing Soda just 1 tblspn and then fill the “fabric softener” area with regular vinegar. That is our detergent. Has worked for months on all the family’s clothing, sheets, towels and cloth diapers :)

  2. I have always used cloth diapers, however, when my now 10 year old was a baby the cloth diaper choices were limited and thus, very easy. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the wide range of cloth diapers NOW on the market. The choices were daunting! …

  3. Awwww…these diapers are so sweet. The colors are adorable and make it an easy transition from a girly fitted stash to something easier for PL’ing and the phase when your LO doesn’t want to lie down for a diaper change. These are absorbent, and to me the fit is cute, BUT…I use fleece as clothing or use a pocket for under regular clothes. I wouldn’t want to try to cover this diaper with PUL. Thumbs up though, way up! ;)

  4. The Mother-ease diapers are very well made, nicely finished with binding around all the seams. They are made mostly of cotton terry but have a very small amount of polyester to prevent shrinkage. I have used British Terry nappies in the past and although this diaper is terry it is not as soft as the British ones. It is not quite as soft as my flanelette diapers either. However, I DO use disposable diaper liners in ALL my cloth diapers and so the softness is not really an issue for me. (disposable liners are also available through mother-ease).
