There are many ways to become more eco-friendly. We asked Nature Mom, Tiffany Washko, what eco-friendly toys her kids use and tips on helping you find the right ones.

At the Nature Mom Blog you will find the random thoughts and experiences of a mom trying to live a more natural and green family life since 2004.

When your kids were younger what was your favorite eco-friendly toy they had?

My two youngest kiddos loved to play with Hammer Balls (Plan Toys). It is such a simple toy but the colors are engaging and they get to hit things with a hammer. They played with it for years. It survived two of my kids and was still in great condition when we donated it.

With more and more companies going eco-friendly, what is one tip you can give up about finding the best eco-friendly toy?

Look for toys made form natural materials…wood, cloth, and bamboo come to mind. Dolls are fun even when totally made of cloth and many plastic favorites like cars and trucks, dollhouses, and blocks come in wood and bamboo. Also make sure that the company uses eco friendly dyes and packaging as well. If you do your research you can find companies that really walk the walk.
