Yes I said professional bloggers. Simply because some bloggers just don’t deserve to get paid. They are happy to whore themselves out. They are happy accepting things in hopes of bigger projects to come along. They are making a bad name for all bloggers.
This is a hot topic all around the blogosphere. It has ticked a few people off – and woken many up. However, there will still always be those that are happy with a free trip or bottle of shampoo. I sadly use to be one of them. May I focus on the use to be part.
I use to think that getting a toy for the kids was the greatest thing ever. It was something that we wouldn’t have bought or even been able to afford at the time. So I was happy in accepting it.
We tested it.
We filmed it.
I edited said film.
I uploaded it.
I wrote about it in words.
I promoted it.
I promoted it some more.
And for what? A toy that soon found a spot at the bottom of the toy bin and has never seen the light of day since filming production ended. A toy that we could have done without – or afforded on our own by cutting out a few downloads from iTunes. Nope, not anymore. I’ve learned my lesson. I’ve learned that yes blogging can be profitable – but only if you do it correctly. It’s a business. It’s about conversation, respect, affiliate marketing, and learning when to say NO!
