I have to admit, with my first introduction to the thought of using cloth pads I was a bit turned off.  After researching the claims and talking to others that had used them I had to give it a shot.  You see, I have a condition called Endometriosis.  I have been dealing with horrible cramps and bleeding since I was a teen.  These woman I talked to and the articles I read raved about the reduced cramping and bleeding.  This was a huge factor in my decision to give them a try.  I also have a latex allergy and using disposable pads would irritate me so badly causing more pain and discomfort.

After really thinking about it I decided what was the difference of washing a cloth pad?  I wash cloth diapers.  I wash my underwear.  If I leaked I didn’t throw my underwear away so, why was it so odd to use a cloth pad and wash it?  It wasn’t!  I just needed to rationalize that with myself.

After using cloth pads for about 2 months I noticed a huge change in the length of my cycles.  I went from bleeding heavily for a week or so straight, to only bleeding for 3 days and most of that being quite light.  That was fantastic!  The more I used the cloth, the less painful my cramping was.  These woman were 100% right on!  Everything changed!

No longer did I dread my period coming, seriously it’s no longer the issue that it was.  Cloth pads are so comfortable as well!  Soft, not plastic coated! I no longer deal with the itching, burning, hives, rashes, etc that the disposables caused for me.  There is no longer that blood smell, you know the one…

No longer do I spend money on something I have to throw away!  Good for your body, your pocket book and the environment!

Dinker And Giggles is excited to be able to share the joy of cloth with you all!  We have Glad Rags and a Wet Bag to give to one lucky reader!

17 Responses to Reduce Cramping And Bleeding With Cloth Pads

  1. Christi says:

I absolutely love cloth! I have horrible cramps every month and the last thing I want is to be wearing an uncomfortable pad. I would always get raw around my panty line from the sposie pads. Cloth is so comfortable it makes me have one less uncomfortable thing during my cycle.

  2. Julie Mansfield says:

I have found that since I started using cloth pads I don’t seem to have an odor during my period like I always noticed w/ sposie pads. I was always so self-conscious about smelling bad, but now I don’t have to worry about that anymore.

  3. Angela says:

I have never tied them before, but have read lots about them. I would love to try them and see what women have been raving about.

  4. Judy Masucci says:

I have never tried cloth pads – I too was kinda of “grossed out” by them. I hadn’t heard about the cramping and length of period benefits – do you know how that happens?? I would be interested in knowing more about the science behind it. I’d love to give them a try after reading your post! Heck I clean out my sons poopy underwear – nothing is worse than that!!

  5. Sabrina says:

I’m so glad I clicked over today to read about this…I’m hopefully not getting a period for at least a few more months :) but since I’m planning to cloth diaper my babies, I was thinking it would be a great time to switch to cloth pads for myself too! It would be awesome to have my 8-9 day period shortened!

I cloth diaper my kids so it makes sense to use cloth pads as well. Plus, like you, I have serious cramping/heavy flow/long period issues.

I’m actually in the process of sewing up my own, but it’s nice to have other pads to try out as well :)
