Ultimate Alaska Bucket List

Posted by in Outdoor Adventures

We all have things we’d like to see or do before it’s too late for me many of those bucket list items are in Alaska. So in no particular order here is my ultimate Alaskan Bucket List:

Mushing

Sure anyone can hop a horse and buggy but how many can say their face burned with excitement (and cold) as they experienced the sheer power of Alaskan sled dogs?!

Northern Lights

I’d love to be able to see the Northern Lights for myself. A picture is worth a thousand words but when you’ve been there it’s worth a million!

Whale Watching

What Alaskan Bucket List would this be if I didn’t mention the beautiful, amazing creatures we all love – the whales.

Hang Out in Kavik

I’d love to just hang out at the Kavik River Camp in Kavik, AK and hear the stories of wildlife from Susan Aikens. Sure I could probably email or Facebook her but to hear it with my own ears, to smell the air, chill with the foxies and see the scenery with my eyes- priceless!

Rail Riding

I’ve been on a long train ride before in China back in 1999. I ended up sleeping most of the time as the jet lag had finally caught up with me. This time I’d love to ride a train through Alaska and catch some of the wilderness that I’d otherwise never see.

Natural Environment

We have a falcon that has tried to get this squirrel, and I don’t blame him as the squirrel is very ready for winter! We’ve enjoyed watching this play out and I’ve tried to get photos but I’m always to slow to the shutter. I’d love to be able to just sit and watch nature in it’s natural environment – to hear the water splashing and the roars from within. Very spectacular indeed!

Panning

I know it’s not going to make me rich – that’s not the point. I’d love to do some panning for gold. Patience and disappointment are lessons sure to be taught but what about the conversation and journey?!

This is just a very small sampling of my Alaskan Bucket list! What is on your list?
